        Jacob Wrestles with God
22 That night Jacob got up and took his two wives, his two female servants and his eleven sons and crossed the ford of the Jabbok. 23 After he had sent them across the stream, he sent over all his possessions. 24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
27 The man asked him, “What is your name?” “Jacob,” he answered.28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[a] because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”29 Jacob said, “Please tell me your name.” But he replied, “Why do you ask my name?” Then he blessed him there. 30 So Jacob called the place Peniel,[b] saying, “It is because I saw God face to face, and yet my life was spared.” 31 The sun rose above him as he passed Peniel,[c] and he was limping because of his hip. 32 Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the tendon attached to the socket of the hip, because the socket of Jacob’s hip was touched near the tendon.

        A psalm of David.

Lord, who may dwell in your sacred tent?  Who may live on your holy mountain? The one whose walk is blameless,     who does what is righteous,   who speaks the truth from their heart; whose tongue utters no slander,  who does no wrong to a neighbor, and casts no slur on others; 4 who despises a vile person but honors those who fear the Lordwho keeps an oath even when it hurts,  and does not change their mind; who lends money to the poor without interest;  who does not accept a bribe against the innocent. Whoever does these things will never be shaken.

Proverbs 3:27Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due,     when it is in your power to act. 28 Do not say to your neighbor,    “Come back tomorrow and I’ll give it to you”—    when you already have it with you.

        Proverbs 4:11-13

11 I instruct you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.
12 When you walk, your steps will not be hampered;  when you run, you will not stumble.13 Hold on to instruction, do not let it go;     guard it well, for it is your life.

        NT Narratives

        • Rest for the weary!
        • Lawful to do good on SABBATH!
        • A kingdom divided by itself cannot survive!
        • Tendency for people to be more sinful after they become christian????
        • Kinship is defined by commonality with Jesus belief, not bloodlines!
        • Parable of the sower - be the fertile ground!!
        • GOOD SEEDS sown but WEEDs were sown together as well
          • Let them grow together, and judgment day will judge result!
        • PARABLE OF THE WOODS appears to be the RAPTURE AGE!!

28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

25 Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand?

43 “When an impure spirit comes out of a person, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. 44 Then it says, ‘I will return to the house I left.’ When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. 45 Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that person is worse than the first. That is how it will be with this wicked generation.”

The Parable of the Weeds Explained

36 Then he left the crowd and went into the house. His disciples came to him and said, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds in the field.”
37 He answered, “The one who sowed the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, and the good seed stands for the people of the kingdom. The weeds are the people of the evil one, 39 and the enemy who sows them is the devil. The harvest is the end of the age, and the harvesters are angels.

40 “As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. 41 The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. 42 They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Whoever has ears, let them hear.
